AI Meeting Note Takers
Notetakers and meeting assistants that record, transcribe and summarise calls so you can stay present and still keep the action items.
How to choose an AI meeting note taker
AI meeting tools record a call, transcribe it and write a summary with action items, so you can listen instead of typing. They differ mainly in how they join the meeting, and that choice affects privacy, etiquette and which calls you can capture.
Bot based note takers join your Zoom, Google Meet or Teams call as an extra participant. Otter.ai, Fireflies.ai, Fathom, tl;dv and Read AI work this way. Everyone can see that the meeting is being recorded, which is honest, though some guests find it off putting.
Bot free note takers capture audio on your own computer instead. Granola listens to your device's audio and combines the transcript with your own rough notes, and Krisp adds its note taker to noise cancellation. You still need to tell people you are recording, and the law in some places requires their consent.
Built in assistants come with the meeting platform or office suite you already pay for. Zoom My Notes and Microsoft 365 Copilot fall here, so check your existing plan before buying another tool. Our guides on Zoom My Notes and how to transcribe a meeting with Copilot explain the setup, and ChatGPT meeting notes covers OpenAI's option.
In person recorders. For lectures, interviews and face to face meetings, hardware such as Plaud and Comu records without a laptop. See AI note taker devices. Google AI Edge Foresight is an on device option for developers.
Before choosing, check four things: which meeting platforms it supports, how many free minutes or meetings you get each month, how many languages it transcribes, and where recordings are stored and for how long. Our best AI meeting note taker guide ranks the field, and Granola vs Otter compares the two styles directly. Our comparison pages put popular pairs side by side on price.
