Literature discovery tool that starts from papers you choose and maps related work, authors and citations, with a free plan for focused reviews.

ResearchRabbit is a literature discovery tool that works from papers you already like. You add one or more seed articles, and it analyzes how they connect to other research through citations, references and authors. The result is a map of related work that you can explore visually, adding promising papers to collections as you go. Its homepage describes this as following your curiosity down the rabbit hole, and says the recommendations improve the more you explore.

This approach complements keyword search. When you have found one paper that fits your topic, ResearchRabbit helps you find the earlier work it builds on, the later work that cites it and other papers by the same authors, which is how many researchers build a literature review by hand.

Pricing, as listed on ResearchRabbit's pricing page when we checked on October 24, 2026: the Free plan costs $0 and includes unlimited searches across more than 310 million articles, unlimited library and collections, sharing collections with collaborators, up to 50 seed articles and core search settings. ResearchRabbit+ is listed at $10 per month on the annual plan or $12.50 per month on the monthly plan, and adds up to 300 seed articles, advanced search controls, multiple projects, Signals alerts and faster support. The page notes special country discount codes. An Institution plan adds library integration through LibKey, user management and usage statistics.

The homepage says the tool is trusted by more than a million researchers and lists university users. It also lets you bring in your existing reference library.

Who it suits: students and researchers starting a literature review who already have a few key papers and want to see the field around them. Who should look elsewhere: anyone who wants a written answer to a question, where Consensus or Elicit summarize findings, or who needs to check whether a finding held up, where Scite's Smart Citations help.
